Rhonda Shear was born on the 12th November 1954, in New Orleans, Lousiana. Rhonda's famed started out on the beauty pageant circuit, where she competed relentlessly, winning over 40 pageants. The most notable victories being Miss Louisana USA for 1975 and Miss Louisana for the Miss World and Miss International pageants. Rhonda wasn't just all about beauty pageants, she majored in Communications with a B.A. from Loyola University and was accepted into the Loyola Law School.
One of her pageant titles included the Queen of the Floral Trail Society, while the reigning Queen of this pageant she appeared fully clothed in a issue of Playboy, which upset the pageant committee and they took her title. This episode gave her a great deal of publicity and raised her profile.
Rhonda got embroiled in a feud with New Orleans Register of Conveyances and decided to run against him in the upcoming election. She was the youngest person ever to run for office in New Orleans and her tounge n' cheek campaign succeeded in removing the incumbant from office and she herself was only 130 odd votes away fromm election. This brought her to the attention of Bob Hope who took her to Hollywood to make a special named The Starmakers. This endorsement opened many doors
Rhonda, making her way in Hollywood, did stand-up comedy and hosted many shows and eventually headlining. Her stand-up credits include “Girl’s Night Out” (Lifetime) “Evening at The Improv,” (A&E), “Women Aloud” (Comedy Central), and “Caroline’s Comedy Hour” (A&E).
However, Rhonda Shear, is probably best known for being the host of the USA Network's weekend movie show, USA Up All Night. She hosted 400 shows from 1991 to 1998, and her antic's and voice made her a household name. She has also guest starred on some of the biggest US TV shows, “Married With Children,” “Silk Stalkings,” “Full House,” and “Cheers.”
Rhonda, made contact with a childhood sweetheart, Van Fagan, on the website Classmates.com, when they met again after 20 years apart they feel in love again and married. The couple also became business partners, Van and Rhonda designed 'Shear Shapeware' which is lightweight seamless undergarments which give women shape without having to lose all those pounds. The garments have being taken up by the Home Shopping Network and have been a great success.
